FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Lessons
What instruments and lesson options do you offer?
We offer private lessons in piano, flute, ukulele, and all types of guitar, including bass. We also offer group classes and special camps.
What ages do you teach?
We welcome students ages 3 and up, with a variety of offerings. Preschoolers can enrol in Preschool Piano Prep with Aleia Guadarrama or Suzuki Guitar with Jack Comeau. Other private lessons generally begin around age 4 or 5. We’ll work with you to find the best fit for you or your child.
What happens in a lesson?
Some students love diving into classical repertoire, while others are happiest playing their favourite songs, exploring composition, or improvising. There’s no single “right” way to learn music here—we value different styles, interests, and ways of learning. Read more.
Do you offer RCM exam preparation?
Yes! We offer RCM exam preparation up to Grade 6 in piano, Grade 10 in flute, and Grade 10 in guitar.
Can students learn music they choose themselves?
Absolutely! Our experienced instructors can help students choose music that matches their interests and current level, setting them up for success.
Scheduling & Fees
How long are lessons, and how much do they cost?
We offer 30-, 45-, and 60-minute private lessons. Monthly fees range from $120–$188. A registration fee equal to one month’s tuition is due at enrolment. Fees for group classes are listed on each class’s information page.
What happens if I join partway through the year?
Fees are prorated based on your lesson start date.
How do I pay for lessons?
Fees are collected monthly by either post-dated cheque or automatic withdrawal.
What happens if I need to miss a lesson?
We know that schedules can change and unexpected things come up. Because your lesson time is reserved just for you, missed lessons aren’t eligible for refunds or credits. When possible, we’re happy to offer a virtual lesson instead—especially when illness or transportation makes getting to the studio difficult.
What happens if my teacher needs to cancel?
We do our best to keep lessons running as scheduled, but occasionally a teacher may need to cancel. If this happens, we’ll work with you to find another arrangement that works for everyone. If a make-up lesson isn’t possible, the cost of the missed lesson will be refunded by e-transfer.
Where can I find important dates and studio events?
Our Calendar has the important dates you’ll need to know throughout the year, including lesson breaks, studio events, and other upcoming activities.
For Parents
How can I support my child’s musical learning?
Help them build a positive relationship with their instrument! Encouragement, curiosity, and a little support with practice can go a long way. Read more about supporting home practice.
What if my child doesn’t want to practice?
You don’t have to figure it out alone! If practice is becoming a source of frustration or conflict, reach out. We can work together to find an approach that feels positive and sustainable.
