Recital Information

I really value recitals as an important part of music education because they give students a chance to celebrate their progress, build confidence, and share their music with our community. And who doesn’t love snacks?

There are two formal recitals each year: one in December and one in June. Refer to the calendar for the dates. The studio will be split into two groups, with the first group having their performance at 1:30pm and the second at 4:00pm. Both will be directly followed by a reception for that group. Because, snacks!

Here's what you can expect about the facility:

  • Around 120 people, including students and families.

  • A large heritage church sanctuary with a baby grand piano.

  • Wheelchair accessible from the ground level main doors (just find me or the site staff if you need help to operate it)

  • Plenty of street parking, with a short walk. Observe the signs for permit holders only - you might get a ticket otherwise

  • Universal gender and accessible washrooms on main level, women’s and men’s on the lower level

  • There are colouring pages and crayons available

Here's what you can expect about the concert:

  • Many people will take this as an opportunity to get dressed up

  • Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to drop off your potluck item and get settled

  • There will be a program. I request that you take one per family. If there are extras, I will offer seconds.

  • I will announce each student in the order of the program, and they will come to the front and perform

  • Performers will bow, and I will hand them a card or certificate and a treat.

  • I cannot accommodate timing requests. If you cannot come for the entirety of the concert, you will have to miss out on this opportunity. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will not be able to attend.

Here's what you can expect about the reception:

  • It is potluck - I really appreciate your donation of a snack to share with the group!

  • It is imperative that there are NO NUTS of any kind. I have several students with anaphylactic allergies to various nuts.

  • We do have some celiac and dairy allergic students, so if you feel inclined to bring something for them I know they would appreciate it! If you do, please label that it is safe for those groups.

  • I provide coffee/tea and a seasonal beverage, and candy for the tables

  • Individual cups, napkins and plates are provided. Bring serving utensils for your dish if required.

  • bring your item into the gym and place it on the table before you find your seat in the sanctuary.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
